Seriously, what is the difference between Soup and Puree?

To me, Broccoli Soup is nothing but pureed broccoli?

Soup is soup whilst Puree is a blended mix to make it

i will eat soup, turn my nose up at puree.

soup has more water in it than puree and is therefore thinner than puree

well, soup is vegetables plus water, but may include puree depending on type. Puree, while it may be included in soup, is different because it involves taking a vegetable and blending it in a blender until it is like a milkshake texture. Not that I'd ever make such a puree as I'm not too fond of veggies which are mushy.

Puree would be soup after its been in the blender at least once.
