Resolved Question

I wonder if my thoughts are a common symptom of depression or if the depression is a result of my experiences. I feel rejected, unloved, misunderstood, taken-for-granted and not successful generally nor very fulfilled. I can't work out or decide what I would like to do/can do next. I have a disability and this has caused limitations.

Other than the "death thought" you mean? Which by the way I felt so deeply that I actually felt it affect my body's chemistry. That was my "wake up" call!

There were thoughts of failure, rejection, a total feeling of not understanding "how life was meant to work". A feeling of being a rudderless ship open and vulnerable to any bad circumstance that came my way. All of this.

But then something changed, to this day I can't explain what it was. But it was like I realized everything that I was thinking was an internal voice... that really wasn't out for my greatest good. And I started reading positive material, that talked about the power of PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) and it changed my life. Today when I hear that negative little voice, whether internal or external, I banish it! It is a powerless thought... as long as you don't believe it which gives it strength.
