will swimming work for you?

At the moment when I kick my leg feels like it is about to fall off but when my leg gets stronger my plan is to do a lot of swimming.

so don't kick at first... work on upper body strength and breathing first, slowly building up the leg work...
...you may also consider getting a fixed brace to prevent the ankle joint taking hits while kicking....

probably not.. .actually... puts substntal pressure on the ankles for creating thrust... but you get the idea...

the make a kind of peddle chair for para paliegics that has cranks instead of pedles for your feet. That should be similar to a bicycle ,I ride bicycles and they definitly take the weight off.
