Should I treat myself?

I took my teenage daughter bra shopping this weekend. At the register, I carefully pulled out the only benjamin I had to my name and paid the $82.50...ouch baby, I don't even pay that much for my own bras! On the way out of the mall, I noticed they had a gift card promotion and sweepstakes going on. Spend $75.00 and receive a free $10 gift card. All I had to do was show my receipts, and I filled out an entry form at the counter while I was there. Well, as it happened, I WON! Yup, a $250 American Express gift card. Got the letter in the mail last night letting me know I won. For the first time in a very long time, I began to daydream about all the things I could buy (for myself) with that gift card.
My daughter found the letter on the table and squealed in excitement, "OMG Mom! You won the sweepstakes! Now you can buy me clothes!" Should I treat myself? Why do I feel so guilty about thinking of treating myself?

TREAT YOURSELF!!! She should not think just because you won that the money is hers. We as mothers give up enough, we need to treat ourselves once in a while too!

Yes, treat yourself. You feel guilty because you have your daughter to take care of, but treat yourself. I know and you know that you are going to treat her too; but this time it's ok to trrrreat yourself first.

Spend $80 on her, the rest on yourself.

First, you feel guilty because mothers are always last in the family food chain. Treat yourself and if there is any left over, treat your daughter or choose a specific amount for her and use the rest for you. It is important for your daughter to see that you value yourself and with this good fortune, you can teach her strong female values and be good to yourself simultaneously.
