Before war "Thou Shalt Not Kill'. During war "Kill! Kill! KILL!!". After war...who knows?

Whether they should or should not it depends on who's doing the fighting (the actual combatants who always change) and who's doing the pontificating (politicians and civilian population who never seem to change).

I think they are sometimes put to one side, albeit hopefully on a temporary basis, things are forced on people by circumstances and the survival instinct for us and our kids.

They usually do with many people after the war, because of the horrible things they've seen, being forced to kill innocent people, being crippled, being forgotten, and the stupid reasons many wars start to begin with.
