Should S Williams be charged with a crime?

US OPEN last night we saw S Williams go after a referee with her racket up, screaming 'Im going to take this F ball and cram it down your f throat"
This wasnt just being a poor sport, this was vicious.
What do you say? Yes she was ousted on match point.

I like Serena and was totally blown out by her outbust. No one, no matter what sport in whatever country should ever be excused for threatening a linesman or anyone who is just doing their job. Serena is a professional and paid extemely well for her talents and success. If she had a bone to pick about her foot fault call then she should have taken it up with the umpire/referee, thats what they're there for.
A threat is a threat whether it is physical or verbal, get on the train people, we live in the 21st century, do whatever you want to yourself on court, as immature as that is, but don't take it out on some poor person who is just doing what is her job!
When you get to such a high status in your chosen sport it doesn't give you the right to take out you anger on anyone, no matter who you are. Think of all the kids that look up to them and strive to be like them, is it ok for them to be seeing this sort of behavior, and not be made to take responsability for it?, I don't think so! Or did I miss the rule that excuses bad sportmanship because you're at the top of your sport!

No, a lot of them have their moments. Ever seen Xavier Malisse throw a tantrum? And what about Mikhail Youzhney smashing his head open with the racket? I say let them get on with it, providing they don't seriously hurt somebody.

It's funny how you can get away with threats and acts in sports that you'd get arrested for else where. Why doesn't the law apply in the sports arena?

Hi Shellfinder
yes sure charge away!
I was at a soccer match when a Policeman went on the pitch to caution the goal keeper for inciting the crowd. Sports people are nothing special. Behave!

ONE of the MAIN REASONS I hate Sports that draw audiences....is the participants tend to over value themselves and mistreat any one they please. Some of them tend to KEEP THE SPOT LIGHT ON THEMSELVES BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. Like the New saying that has evolved (any fame good or bad is still fame.) Jesse James was so popular that the man that shot him was himself hunted down and killed a few years later. Lesson...don't mess with the famous.... Ted Bundy was getting letters from over 200 women after his arrest /conviction and imprisonment. No one learned a lesson from him either....Fame is Fame?
Personally I boycott the sports participants because too many of them act like spoiled brats on or off the sport fields. **** on them...maybe that will cool them off. Tennis pros have proved to be some of the most spoiled babies that there are. One insult and ban the bastards for life ! the best sentance they can recieve for their baby antics.

No way. All the players have lost it at some point or another. They should only be punished if they actually hurt someone.
