Should the Bible be BANNED?

It speaks of Murder, The End of the World, and Magic!

Well, my local news station speaks of murder on a daily basis. I guess we should ban that.

Lots of fantasy stories, such as Harry Potter, the Narnia series, etc., speak of the end of the world. So does science, actually. Do we really believe the world will go on forever? Scientists say that once the sun dies, so will life. Should we ban science?

As for magic, if you don't believe in it, what harm has it done you?

By the way, the Bible also speaks of love, family, friendship, service, wisdom, and other attributes most people hold near and dear. Why should you ban something because there aren't attributes you value? Or did you not get that far?

Book banning is unethical. I don't care what it is. Book banning protects NO ONE and harms EVERYONE. Even Mein Kampf should exist as the piece of history that it is.

That's like saying Harry Potter should be banned. It also speaks of murder, the end of the world, and magic.
It shouldn't be banned. People should be allowed to read whatever they'd like and be entitled to practice any religion they see fit. As long as people reading the bible aren't actively stabbing witches or "evildoers" in the streets, I see no real issue.

the problem isn't with Religion however contrary to popular belief, the problem is with crazed murderous fanatics trying to justify their psychotic behaviour by saying it's religious fanatasism! IRA catholics obviously conveniantly forgot that the very first commandment of THIER GOD, is THOU SHALT NOT KILL!! forgive the rant but I can't stand Evil in any form much less religiously "motivated".
religion isn't evil, greedy ruthless power hungry PEOPLE are x

only to children and the week willed.

anyone else who wants to search for personal enlightinment either threw the bible or any other book should do so of free will not threw family obligation or some other nonsence

same goes for everything else, books, tv, music, sexuality, humor, love ,and whatever people want to do

censorship isnt anything but theft of personal choice and free will

Lots of tyrants have pitifully failed in their actions against the command of God.
The core command in the Bible is to seek for God and His Justice. Learn to know that the Christian civilization is incomparable.

There goes Miss Marple, then.

Nah, we should keep the Bible around. It makes for comforting reading. Not all of it is about killing and slaughter and what have you. there are some very inspirational passages in those aged old pages ^.^

No! Why would anyone want to ban a great piece of Literature that apart from being the main text of major World Religion that is also is the basis of much of our Law and Customs?
Killing and slaughter existed then and sadly exists today. Airbrush reality?
Ya gotta be kidding.(sigh)

No, I don't think anything should be banned. We are supposed to be free to think, feel, and speak about what we want.

Been tried for centuries and before Jesus and the New testiment was written, the jewish bible was attacked and people tried to ban it for all time. You can not ban God or his word, it is just not possible.

Honestly, despite all the pain, suffering, and depression it has caused, no. Part of it is my hatred of ANY banning of books, but I have to admit that the Bible, like fuzzy dice in a race car, sometimes gives hope. If that hope is real or not, I don't know, and despite my many, many doubts, it IS comfrot to some that have no comfrot Now, if you were to ask if any of the people screaming that it's totally the world of God (ignoring the real world and the fact that if God had written it it would be in the skies all over the world each night and day) should be banned, I'd have no trouble with that idea at all. Although I couldn't think of where to put them. If we put them all in the same place, they'd have to listen to each other and realize how stupid they sounded, and I'm afraid the suicide count would be terrible..

No, but it should come with a disclaimer like cigarettes that it may be dangerous to your [mental] health.
Kowen and I should bait more hooks together.
There are parts I believe in and parts that are just wrong. It is NOT God's word - it is man's.
The still open for comment Lucifer=Satan LIE Q I've posted may interest those truly loving the Truth as I do.
And Christians aren't the ONLY hippocrites; The Koran states "If you raise your hand to harm me, I will NOT raise mine to harm you". How does anyone but a crazy warp this into justification for 9/11, jiihad and all the other lethal nonsense?
Can't religions just be content in the knowledge that non-believers will spend eternity in whatever unpleasant hell awaits them?

The Bible is actually like 66 different books, many written at vastly different time periods, in different cultures, and by different people with different belief systems.

Instead of "the Bible" being judged, it would be more accurate to judge each separate book within it by what it teaches.

No, no books should ever be banned. That is censorship and is against human rights of freedom of expression and thought, however what should be banned is christians and other religions banning and censoring books that are not inkeeping with their narrow philisophies. And I believe a child should not be forced to read the Bible and learn cathecisms off by heart

NO. let the bible be there so anyone can read and realize the absurd in it. banning could only make it popular, as any forbidden thing gets more attractive.
