Should we pay our neighbors the dog warden fee?
The other day there was a dog in our shared alleyway, we knew that next door didn't have a dog so we called the dog warden. We thought that the dog had escaped from somewhere in the street and it sounded distressed. So our neighbors came home and told us it was theirs and it would cost them £30 to get him back. We gave them the £30 since they said they have left a note and I felt guilty that I didn't see it. Now it's costing them £80 since the dog warden had to bring him back and they are expecting us to pay. We don't think we should. We have already given them £30 and it was their fault for leaving their dog in the alleyway instead of in their house. (They left him outside because they didn't want the dog and cat to get into a fight, but whats wrong with separating them?) They say they can't afford to pay it but when you have a pet you do have to have extra money for vet bills or when mistakes like this happen!
