Since only living people can feel anguish over someone's death, doesn't the death penalty actually punish them?

Them as in the people who love the convict?

Like most of the oddities in the legal system, it's more about revenge and satisfying the bloodlust of a few people than actually benefiting society as a whole..

Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured.

Death Penalty has nothing to do with "Punishment". It's simply if you take someones life for no reason ( not talking about accidents, or self defense ) other then you felt like it, you should by all rights forfeit your own. It's just that simple, read the Bible.

So be mindful of your actions because no man bears the consequence of his actions alone if people love him?

The convict loses their ability to pay for their crime when they are killed. Only the convict's loved ones can suffer from such a punishment. The convict's loved ones are innocent people.

Crime does not jump out and grab you.It requires interaction with the law.Laws written and made very clear what the reaction to breaking them are.How about a new view of this....let's respect each other and not kill Again consider the consequences you place on others when you break the law....no man is an island
