I think it depends on many factors in oneself with how much the 'broken heart' will hurt. But I would say don't discount the intensity that people express the pain to be. To them, in that moment, the pain is as unbearable as they are claiming it is. Feelings of having a broken heart are a completely subjective experience, which means that however intense someone claims it to be, then it IS that intense.. because it is subjective. For you though, it may not be as bad.. or it may be worse. No one can tell you how it will feel for you when it happens. :)

Yeah, it can. You may not have enough of a connection with the person to feel empathy or maybe you haven't felt that kind of pain. People are different, I beleive there are some people who are more sensitive and feel things more deeply. Nature? Nurture? Both?

It's quite possibly THE worst pain you'll ever experience and one that will leave a scar on your heart for the rest of your life. *no lie*

It does indeed. If you ever really experience it you'll have no doubt, though some people don't have their hearts broken as completely as others.

It hurt me very much. Kind of like my chest had been hollowed out with an ice cream scoop.
