Resolved Question

So you're sitting down to dinner at an exclusive, expensive restaurant...?

... with the person to whom you plan to propose that night, an event you've been planning for months. As your drink order arrives, the maitre de seats a family of eight next to you, in the only remaining table, which is comprised of three screaming children under four, a mother with her breast fully exposed as she attempts to feed a fourth, and a father with frequent, earsplitting, eyewatering flautulence. The catch is, you notice that the oldest daughter is the grantee of the Make A wish Foundation, her dying wish having been a meal at Che Hoity Toity on the very night you planned on popping the question. Do you get up and leave, knowing it may well ruin a dying girls' last wish from the embarrasment of your obvious, hasty departure? Do you stay and suck it up, though YOUR special night stands to be ruined? Or do you do something else, knowing you can't be reseated elsewhere?

I would get on one knee tell the love of my life I love her and ask her if she will marry me (at the restuarant, of course). It would tell her you'll go through anything by her side. It would make a great story for friends and family. Not to mention it would show the girl from the MAWF that her families presence is welcome.

I would accept the first drink order, quietly tell the waiter you will be leaving after the drinks are finished and leave unobtrusively. Plan a second evening at a different time and no one gets hurt.

I would make friends, hold a screaming baby so it would stop. put the ring in the babies hand and hand the baby to my would be fiance. better than putting it in a wine glass.
creative and fatherly = hopefully a yes answer and a moist V.J.
LOL

Depends on what kind of a person you are.

I see no reason you can't politely tell someone if their kids are being out of control in a restaurant. It has certainly happened to me when I bring the kids out. I have said sorry a few times and got the kids under control or left.

leave cause i'm sure a child's last dying wish being fulfilled will drown out the thought of u leaving... u should take her to an expensive suite, order an extravagant dinner and a decadent dessert that includes some type of sauce... after u lick it off of her body propose. i am almost positive she won't say no and u won't have any interruptions.

Sorry, I feed my baby where every she wants to eat...unless Im driving. Although no one seems to mind my boobs. (Granted, its not like Im walking around topless either.)

I think under these circumstances you need to be very THANKFUL for what you have and change your attitude towards the situation. Make some small talk with the family. Show your soon to be fiancée how great you are with kids and how understanding you can be. Give the baby your keys - babies LOVE keys! Pass dad some beano.

Better yet, make it a real night to remember for the dying girl and have her pop the question to your fiancée for you. She will be crying tears of joy and fulfilment. Your fiancée will think you are the most sensitive and caring man in the world. And her family will NEVER forget what a WONDERFUL thing you did.

If I knew this was a last wish, I would postpone my own desires and focus on making hers come true. I would explain to my gal just what was taking place at the table next to us and enjoy our meal. After, under the stars or a setting sun, I would find a quiet spot for just the two of us and ask her if she could accept me for her husband...

Are you really sure you want to marry....that could be you in a few years?

Think twice. Trust me, it's not all it's cracked up to be.

I don't see why "MY" special night would be ruined.... even if there were screaming kids and a woman nursing at the next table.

Of course I'd stay and continue with my plans! I'd not be proposing to someone who was so uptight that they'd let something so petty get to them.

I like Lara4075's answer.... it's obvious that you wanted this to be a romantic moment that was unfortunately shattered. You might contact the restaurant and explain how your night was ruined and ask for a complimentary do-over so you could do it right?
