Why is it that no matter how many pair of underwear we buy, it is always underwear, never underwears.

    ..pairS of underwear.. underwear is an uncountable noun and is so known as it describes the clothes we wear under our other clothes..

    Thanks Prof. How about a pair of pants? Or a pair of boxer shorts. I take it that is because they have two legs, right? So why isn't a shirt a pair of shirts? It has two sleeves. Just me scratching my head again today; and going Hmmmmmm????

    P.S. I never say I bought 6 pairs of anything. It is always 6 pair of whatever. Is that incorrect? Have I been saying it wrong all my life? Groannnn. One more thing to feel foolish about. Will the shame never end? LOL
