Actually, it appears that the rabid pursuit of money is on the verge of bringing the so-called civilized world to a grinding halt. The actual physical world, of course, will keep on turning without our participation, or interference, and perhaps in some future time we will once again emerge from the ooze, or be placed here again by a supreme being, and will play once more in these reindeer games. Who knows, we may get it right next time.
It has also been said that 'Money is the root of all evil.' The pursuit of wealth expresses our primal fears, and those who strive to amass great wealth are weak and fearful people. They have little faith in themselves or others, and although they have a lot of stuff, they are always just a little short of stuffing.
