I think you need a fine balance......one way your a "doormat"........the other ......your "antisocial"
Sensitivity versus apathy.
pretty smart for a little f'er ;-)
I've said it before. People who go out of their way to let you know they don't care what others think, really DO want you to know (or think) they don't care what others think. Kinda spoils their mantra, now don't it?
Actually need both in your life. You should care about what the most important people in your life think of you and not really care what anyone else thinks.
I fall into both categories but it really depends on the situation I'm in. I don't care what certain people thing of me... at all. Others, I care quite a bit.
the word is BALANCE...
If someone cares too much then they'll never be happy with themselves and will have no confidence, but if they don't care at all they could become social outcasts who disregard everyone's opinions as wrong.
I think the perfect balance is being able to take criticism without dwelling on it, and considering if what other people say holds truth.
I think caring about what others think of you is pointless... People who truly matter in your life accept you for what you are.
I've only started not caring what others think of me and it's been awesome.
At the end of the day you should choose what kind of person you want to be and not let your choices/actions be dictated by those who you feel are "superior" to you.
There are pros and cons for both stances but if your only one or the other then your stuffed.
People who don't care about the thoughts of others never accept the true and legitimate defects they have and therefore they never modify their faults
People on the other end of the extreme who listen to everyone’s opinions about them are totally vulnerable to being denigrated and destroyed mentally by abusers.
People need to be able to take on board legitimate criticism and obtain benefit from that without being open to the BS denigrators dish out for sport.
