I think it has to do with depth and width. Being able to process images in a more of a 3D sense rather than 2D. People with superior spatial intelligence usually have good sense of directions and are able to visualize pictures to fit together in a 3D format (such as SweetlyLingering). Maybe have good depth perception as well. I think that's what it means...I may be wrong.

I can really only give you an example....If I buy something that needs assembly, I can picture in my mind by looking at the parts and pieces where they should go and can put it together without having to read the instructions. I guess you can say you can problem solve by picturing it in your mind.
