When there is a man and a lady, always ask the lady what she wants first.. Smile, alot.

I am a waiter. This happened to me yesterday:

I was taking a man's empty plate, and his knife was sitting halfway off the plate as I lifted it over his head (it was crowded) the knife fell off and hit the guy in the neck! Luckily there were no hard feelings and he laughed it off! Phew!
The message is, make sure the plates/cups/cutlery etc. are all well balanced. That way you can move faster instead of wobbling around.

Also, always look happy, don't look beaten down, stressed out or tired, it makes the restaraunt cafe look like a bad place to be.

Please, if you have any other questions, just ask, finally I can impart my limited knowledge onto someone! Good luck!

Hahahah oh my god, that's so scary! I wasn't even expecting to work as a waitress, but when i applied he immediately hired me. It's more of a sportsbar/restaurant so i'll be serving alcohol a lot... I'm just nervous, I don't really handle food so this will be new haha..

Were you hired as a "waitress" or "server"? Some places have a tip "pool" -- any tips left by patrons is put in a bucket then divided up at the end of the shift. Some places it's fairly distributed, other places it's by "seniority".
