So whenever I meet someone new in person, they consistently say "You have striking German facial features." While I take in as a compliment, I have no idea what they mean by it?? (Even my husband said I have the old German features. He says I look like I am from WW1.)

It's a great compliment. I'd take it to mean that you have the strong, pronounced, evenly-proportioned features, like a lot of Germans, from back then.
