when they say it or when it is said to them? i think society as a whole needs to seriously man up and quit whining so much. imagine living in africa and eating dirt because there is no food because it has not rained in a year. now that is something to complain about.

I heard a Dr. on tv saying "Man up" or "Take it like a man" to a male is demasculinizing them ! ??? So, if said to a woman I guess you'd be masculinizing them. Try just saying "Take like an Adult"!

No, it's not offensive to me...I just take it to mean that it's time to be strong and/or stop the whining and just deal with whatever is going in a a grown-up way.
