Tell me what you think about this?

My extended family did not come to my wedding, yet they are coming to my sister's wedding even though it is equal distance from them. She thinks it is because I sent invitations out at a time they'd have 2 weeks to plan, but I know it doesn't make a difference. her's is in a church and is christian but mine was outdoors and pagan. 30 people--everyone on my husband's dad's side of the family, did not come because they knew it was a pagan wedding. In my opinion, if you don't come to my wedding you are neither family nor friend and I will not talk to you regardless of if you are at my sister's wedding. My sister thinks I should NOT have a problem with that!!! what the fuck!! What would YOu do, what would YOU think? She even had the nerve to say, "and since your husband isn't coming he won't be there to diffuse your anger" I told her, he comes along for MORAL support because he loves me for who I am, unlike all my family except for my aunt. Those people are not even worth my anger...

People like traditional weddings and your family may have been offended by the concept of a Pagan wedding, whatever that is. They were wrong to blow off your wedding as you are a part of the family. I understand your disapoointment and unfufillment. Maybe you should describe what a Pagan wedding is and let people comment. I personally would avoid weddings that are polarizing in their setting or execution. My children understand this. There are non religous wedding celebrations that people will attend, even if they are not religious. I have been to Bhuddist, Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Jewish (non orthodox)Lutheran, other protestant weddings as well as non religous.

I'm sorry they did that. Please don't judge all Christians by their actions. What they did was very rude; they should have put aside those differences and been there for you on your big day. Happiness and love are the same, no matter what your faith is.

I would have a hard time forgiving them as well, if it were me. I'm still not speaking to a girl friend who didn't come to my wedding for a similarly stupid reason.

I would be PISSED. I think that is extremely rude. It's a wedding too, something that is very important to you and as such should be important to them regardless of whether it is christian or pagan. I'm sorry that your own family treated you like that it's really not right..

Sorry, but I disagree with most of the posters. I think you are rude and you have no right to be angry about your family not coming to your wedding. It sounds like you are a very angry, disagreeable person and I wonder if you purposefully decided to have a pagan wedding to thumb your nose at your family. Obviously, they took it that way, so why would you expect them to come to your wedding on such short notice, knowing it was against their faith? If you had been raised pagan, that would be one thing, but since they raised you Christian, it would hypocritical of them to say your pagan ceremony was okay.

I think they are acting with integrity and that you need to grow up. If you had the courage of your convictions, you would not care whether your family was at your wedding and you would understand their motivation for staying away. That's why I think you're just being a spoiled brat. If I were your sister, I would ask you not to come to my wedding because you'll probably make a scene.

Wow! I totally empathize with you! Just remember people often shun what they don't understand and there is not a whole lot we can do about it...

Blessed Be!!

Wow, I'm really sorry to hear that your family did that to you. That sucks. What a pity that religious differences can be so divisive.
You're right, they're not worth your anger. I think what I would do is play nice out of respect for your sister (it's not her fault, this day is about her, not your extended family)--but that doesn't mean you have to talk to them.
