Ten years of war in Iraq. $10 Billion Dollars. Countless maimed & killed American soldiers. NO WMD found. Worth it?

"Going in and occupying Iraq, thus unilaterally exceeding the United Nations' mandate, would have destroyed the precedent of international response to aggression that we hoped to establish. Had we gone the invasion route, the United States could conceivably still be an occupying power in a bitterly hostile land."

-- George H. W. Bush, in his 1998 memoir A World Transformed

Of course not.The ONLY Americans who came out of this mess looking good were those who served, their loved ones and the early anti war protestors(many of whom were beaten, arrested, discriminated against, spat on,fired, assaulted and had their patriotism attacked.)I know all of the above to be true.
If you were among the war supporters or voted for Bush, the blood of everyone is on your hands as well as our broken economy

My brother died as a direct result of Nam.37 years and I miss him still. It quite literally broke my father's heart-especially,as one who couldn't serve in WW2,he was so proud of his son.

Not necessarily, some people have that if-it-doesn't-affect-me-I-don't-care attitude, and they believe everything authority tells them

Lord help you- 9-11 had nothing to do with the Invasion. It was traced mostly to Saudi Arabia; you know- the place where Bush has "best friends" as he put it in the Middle East- stop the fiction

I suppose it is if you drive a gas powered vehicle. If you drive electric like us, you are much more concerned that Kentucky remains friendly to America. The reason for the war was because Iraq was attempting to seize all the oil in the Middle East, ALL OF IT. Once oil isn't a concern for Americans, neither is the Middle East.

For everyone concerned with Iraqi deaths, it is estimated by the UN that Saddam killed a over million of his own people, and raped and tortured hundreds of thousands more. I'm not saying that makes it right to go in and kill a bunch of Iraqi people, but something needed to be done to stop this monster.

I will agree to disagree with you on this matter. I've had too many brother and sister killed & maimed (as you put it) in Iraq. My opinion has no affect of the real reasons that we were there or the negative findings of WMD. By the way, the WMD story was just a ruse to get us there, it was the inability of the American people to see through the smoke that allowed it to happen. Not to say that we had any hand in the war efforts, just stating a fact.

As technology advances so do the price tags. Oh and war is war, no matter how you fight it, people will always die but the reasons of why they are dieing is the true travesty of it all. If they weren't dieing for out freedom, then ?

No one died for our freedom. But for the oil we wouldn't have been there. Remember how the war was going to pay for itself with oil revenue?

I remember a lot of promise made right before we set foot in that forsaken country and look what that war has done to the people on our side of the world. More blame and excuses have been layed down against the war in Iraq than ever before. Gas prices, unemployment, the stock market, etc.. If you don't think that Iraq is to blame then you need to do more investigating. I'm not saying you personally, I'm talking to anyone reading this response!

I guess since no one else is gonna say it... ok, so the evidence of absence is not evidently absent to evidently be.. no it was totally not worth it, even what 'good' came out of it.

Worth it to the people, like Haliburton, who got even richer than they already were from it. That's what it was for. And it cost hundreds of billions of $$, not just 10.

Good stuff. Now as to the cost of the war(s) - Iraq and Afghanistan, simply Google cost, true cost of war(s) for these particular wars and you will see estimates up to $3 trillion dollars and up to $6 trillion by 2050 with health care for the vets included. These figures, the articles will tell you, included opportunity costs that were lost, paying interest on the money borrowed to pay for the war etc... Now, what I said above isn't my info, it's info out there easy to find with minimal research. Other info is out there where Cheney said the war would cost $80 to $100 billion in total. There is a Wiki page entitled "Financial cost of the Iraq War". It lists appropriations for each fiscal year from 2003 through 2011. Whatever the true amount is, it is easily in the hundreds of billions...
