How about you do something useful with your blinding faith? How about putting the energy you used to type that into... I don't know, say... Feeding a hungry child, sit with the dying, find a home for a kitten?

Maybe... live by the words of Christ instead of selling them, for in your actions your works will show the way?

If The Bible is as powerful as you say it is it doesn't need you to convert others to it's cause. It needs you to follow it's words. The Bible will find it's way to those that need it without you and those millions of other converters.

Best Answer

I'm sure you could be more useful.

Best Answer

Some people can actually manage to do both. Some people can live by their faith and also feed the hungry, sit with the dying and find homes for those kittens. Some of us even find homes for children who need good loving and supportive homes. Yes it is possible to have faith in the bible and also do good works. How do I know this? Because I am one of those who not only reads and believes the bible but lives their life by its teachings.

Best Answer

You misunderstood me. I said use that faith to do those things instead of selling the religion. We have enough people selling it but not many practicing it. Do you get me now, dreamcat22?

Best Answer

I see it as one in the same. Feeding the hungry and living by that faith. I guess I'm mistaken. It's about keeping homosexuals from getting married.

Best Answer

I guess..

I am not offended. I was just suggesting the poster do something more useful. How many millions of posts and writings do you see like this one? I see far more of this sort of thing than I do a Christian taking in a homeless man or doing good works. I was just trying to make a point. Do the work instead of coxing others to do it for you. The poster may do a lot for God's people but I see it as a waste of that energy to try and sway people. Actions speak louder than words. Do they not? I wasn't offended. Just thought I would spread an idea. I am saying something for God. You just can't see it.

I appreciate your excitement about the Bible, but when you say that the bible is the written Word of God, your saying that God is as faulty as man. Surely you don't believe that God suffers confusion or loss of memory do you? The confusion starts at Genesis chapter one and continues to Revelation. It stands to reason that people want to have a copy of the bible. It's the best work of literature in history (in my opinion) and it promises eternal life. It contains beautiful truths and the most romantic erotic poetry ever written, but given all the mistakes found inside, it is an insult to say that every word is from the mouth of God. Here is a small fraction of the inconsistencies
let me add to that puck 61. i am not down playing that the bible is a good tool for an outstanding moral life but when it mentions that only 144,000 will make its way into heaven then my god............alot of us dont have a spot in heaven do we??????? furtheremore god says he is good and he is evil so that suggest to me that we cannot determine what god favours or not. we just have to live our life with to the best of our ability and try to spread love and help make the world more habitable.................i cant be bothered to live by any extrememe rigidness....its frighting and a waste of precious life.....we only live one time . by the way god came to save the wicked not the saints.........so god will always be looking out for me cause god know i am a sinner

But the truth of the bible is that it is in error, greatly. Either you accept that reality or you live in la la land.

Best Answer

interpreting the bible literally must lead to the conclusion that god is neither omnipotent, nor omniscient, infallible, nor infinitely compassionate. despite that god is mentioned as having all those attributes, the stories contained within it contain many obvious examples of where god fails to be each thing he is asserted to be. i have thought, perhaps, if it is the word of god, this is the point of it? god wished to show his followers that despite being a powerful being, the creator of their existence, he makes mistakes just like them. still, i don't say this as an admonition of god, but as a lesson to man, even the wisest and most powerful of beings, makes a mistake every now and then. so many more will you too, and therefore they are all forgivable. which leads to the lesson of christianity -- all your sins may be forgiven, just don't be an *** and keep making them over and over again counting on forgiveness. forgiveness is not for those who try to **** up it's for people who try to do well and fall short. but duh that's just common sense right?

"The Bible is the soel book that people in persecuted countries clamor to get their hands on insted of food. " Oh yeah Saudi dissadents are all clamouring to get their hands on the bible and starving africans are all "No, not more food! We want bibles!" Where do you Christians get this crap from?

"The world is witnessing today how out of date it is by the prophecies taking place around us at warped speed now" every generation has said this. You might want to drink less of the cool aid.

Best Answer

The bible has been out of date for 2000 years, and counting.

Best Answer

The Bible is definitely not out of date. You are correct, by the way, in stating that it is the number one best seller of all time. It is also a compilation of different styles and not always to be interpreted literally. The New Testament must be viewed as the fulfilment of the Old and so presc<x>riptions given in the Old Testament are not necessarily presc<x>riptions for Christians. Christians in countries where they are being persecuted, e.g. China, are very happy indeed to get Bibles. Your critics demand citations from you; I would say to them, they also need proof. I know for a fact that Christians in these countries have very little and are always extremely grateful when supplies of bibles make their way through. (e.g. consult the Cardinal Kung Foundation).

There are so many people whose lives have been irrevocably altered as a result of reading the Word of God. Since I am a Catholic, I will cite the first one that comes to mind - St Augustine. Others from different denominations will think of others and I could go on and on.

Best Answer

Augustine was a nutcase, almost as nuts as Origen. Mind you Origen didn't have nuts for long, did he?

Best Answer

Another of your gratuitous assertions unsupported by fact.

Best Answer

No,for it says,I am the same yesterday and forever God never changes, but the would and the people in it change.

Best Answer

Is the bible out of date?

No, because as long as people are afraid to face the joys and horrors of the reality they actually perceive and the true fragility of their lives, the bible will always be there to provide a wonderful make-believe story of vengeful gods, benevolent virgins and bearded heroes for these poor souls to take comfort from.

So it's not really out of date or a that bad a story, much like myths and legends of other cultures, however it is a little inconsistent from all the editing over time, and I prefer other stories and myths much more!

It'd be interesting to see a new chapter to the book, perhaps a brand new testament 2012 version, written for this generation... Perhaps J. K. Rowling could write it?

Best Answer

the real bible is written in invisible ink. the one you see is just a decoy to fool the rubes.

Best Answer

I totally agree with you on this. The bible has been of great comfort to me when my mother was dying and as I raise my children. It is the word of God. I have witnessed God's love for me. The reason I have witnessed his love is because I believed in the faith and I have asked Jesus into my life. See my Story of Reaching out from Heaven, How I became a Believer and Heartbeats of Life. God is forever present in my life, and I have felt his presence on many occasions.

Best Answer

I think the advice in the Bible is timeless. People feel it's out of date, because it conflicts with the way they want to live their lives.
