IF it started in Arabia it certainly hasn't matured there.

Depends what you call "civilization". Humans in all probably evolved in Africa and then emigrated around the world.

Best Answer

Not exactly.
There were earlier civilisations in Southern Africa.
A Chinese double edged steel sword dates back 2500yrs, and noodles from 2 strains of millet have been found to date back 4,000ys. Limits in access to archaeological sites in China mean we don't know the true age of its culture.
The roots of our Western culture started in the area between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers,
now occupied by Syria and Iraq.
As for the end... yes it is scary the way tensions are continually growing between the West and the Middle East.
We could do better for the planet and our inter-cultural relationships if we put much more effort into developing transport and energy from renewable and non-polluting sources, and made more efficient technology that requires less energy.
Personally I would like to see Israel honour its original boundaries established with the British and Palestine. I'd like to see Jerusalem as a separate autonomous city state with international neutral status.
The vast majority of Muslims want peace. Even the most conservative will not fight unless their faith is threatened. Regardless of what weapons Iran might have, it cannot as a theocratic state justify war unless someone attacks them first.
So as long as the West avoids any other idiotic actions like the invasion of Iraq on false information,
there should be no reason to see the Middle East as our doom.
