America the wealthiest nation in the world where people eat meat unfit for dog food . Take a fast food burger to any European country order a burger from there and eat them both together. You'll see what i mean.

So everything will be fine, when meat is wiped off from the plates?

Absaloutely but more realistically when the US government enforces some regulations on meat producers to ensure what people are eating is actually sanitary safe and reasonable.

First off the statistics that we read about political and otherwise are mostly bogus. I met a women that her and her husband do statistical studies for a living she said don't believe them. They'll order a statistic study for let's say politics if you give them results they don't like they throw them out and ask for you to do them in a different area until they get the results they're looking for, so you can throw that out the door.

Many people are under a tremendous amount of stress these days with the economy, forcloures, jobless, etc. etc. etc. This activates the stress hormone in the body cortisol that makes you crave carbohydrates, fats and sugars. It's a protective reaction in the body because in the past when we became stressed it was a life threatening circumstance survival mode and those food kept us going let's say if we where running for our lives, we don't live in that world in the forest, etc. This is a scientific fact, so hense people eat the wrong foods.

Then there's the factor of all the unhealthy bi-products that are being put in food and the foods that are being promoted are not good for you. For instance, things that say they are blueberry muffins or pancakes and they don't even have blueberries in them. We ate way more natural, fibrous foods, fresh fruits and veggies when I grew up. The life style of moving so quickly to get things done, do you have time to make a decent meal or is it more convenient to pop something into the microwave or pick something up, so life style makes a difference. Then again sometimes by time you get off work, you've worked so hard your to tired to cook.

One very important fact "EVERY BODY IS DIFFERENT" from different cultures, backgrounds and for that reason not everyone is suppose to be skinny. Some people have bodies that hold more weight more comfortably because you need it to keep warm, for famine times, etc. The narrow mindedness of the commercialized ideal of what looks good on someone, it's all shallow based on whose idea. The health issues aren't. Yeah I see way more obese people these days and in the past this was a sign of wealth.

We are fortunate that we even have A CHOICE what we can eat many people in the world just have to eat what they can afford and they have far less choices. Then again maybe that person could have starved in a past life so the luxury of food became very important to them in this one.

There are so many factors in all this. Can't pin it on one thing or another. I see McDonald's with way less people in them then there used to be, I don't eat there.

    I DON'T THINK THERE'S ONE FACTOR FOR THIS ISSUE, IT'S A MIX.

You said it...now why didn't you get best answer??? :) I no longer believe a lot of what the government, state or even local authorities render to the public...you just don't know who is true and really cares about the health and well being of a fellow human being. I recently discovered that some of the organic food producers are owned by the bigger corp. who produce all that GMO conventional foods...AND that the standards for that "USDA Organic Certified" label is inadequate because they still use inorganic contents in them...this is all from the United States Government. They are deceiving so much of the public it's infuriating to me!!!!! However they still do have programs that help people so they aren't entirely horrible...just most of the time :)

Im surprised its not 50%. If you looked in the cupboards of the average family, you would see why. Everything comes in a coloful box, nothing is made from scratch in these homes.

You better pack some cans of beans, healthy cans of good brand veggies, canned tuna, dried fruit....I am actually starting a new job as a otr truck driver soon and will be on the road for 2-3 weeks at a time so no more preparing good healthy nutrient rich dinners every night. But I am not going to fall for any fast-food just because I cannot prepare dinner....you can find a way to pack non-perishable foods on long trips...just find a way... :) good day!

I think that number is too low for some areas of the US and far too high for others.

Eat fast and overly processed food + spend free time in front of the computer and/or TV = Fat bodies and decline in overall health.

These are choices people make for themselves; not the government, not the food producers, not Madison Avenue, but the individual. Never saw obese people in the soup lines during the Depression or coming out of a concentration camp.

also i think genetically fatty genes are becoming more common in people. it doesnt help any that we sit around all day if we are prone to the fats and our matabolisim moves at the rate of a garden slug xD im happy a computer addict, becuase i tend to forget to eat and my matabolisim is relitivly quick so i've never really had an issue with it :P my biggest problem would be to not eat for 2 days becuase i could litterally drop down 10 pounds becuase of how small i already am. honeslt being under or over weight scares me into anxiety.

dont forget all the other fast food places, taco bell, KFC, pizza places(not even going to try naming them all) burger king, and wendy's, krystals, & chicfelea(sp?). those are the ones that are near me but im sure are more that im failing to remember due to the fact they already suck IMO also we have all you can eat places that only cost you a set amount of money to get in and then you dont pay for the amount you actually eat (witch i feel is BS becuase some of us dont actually like most of the stuff they serve and only eat like 1 serving like our bodies are supposed)

I question how they would even measure this without being able to ask every single person living there- unless doctors are revealing more than they ought to? Even then, are you accounting for the poor, those not under the radar?

Ah, I just question the danger of this- it's like the Nielson ratings. They assume people watching what these folks do. They assume when the tv is on it means it's being watched. There's just so much error in the system.

Well living in the USA, I think this number is grossly understated. Probably more but the fat arses couldn't get our their own front door to be counted.

I think they eat way too much fast food and buy one coke get one free and it's the large size. Food is cheap and available and they pile their plates up and eat too much. Not only are the adults big but they don't control what their children eat and they too are obese. These same children are taught from young how to eat badly and are teased at school because they can't tie their own shoe laces and they get bullied. Parents should take control just look at the obese adults and then the children with them. Those children when going into a restaurant don't eat from the kiddies menue because it would be too little food for them. Sad.

I say we dont let some of those people in fatty restaurants. Not to be rude. But I dont get how someone with weight problems will go into a restaurant and eat a full slab of ribs or a half lb burger. I'm sure its hard but dont they care about them selves?
