I feel the same way. Friends change, we grow apart as we grow older. In the last couple of years I've lost friendships and made new ones. At first I felt weird, like something was wrong with me. But now I realize a friend is someone you're happy to see, and you're usually happy after you hang out with them. Friendship isn't about constantly putting up with drama, spending money, and wasting your time. If a friend becomes a user or an emotional vampire, dump him/her and move on!

Been there, done it, worn the T shirt!

Today, I love my solitary existence remote from friends, pubs, and clubs, and enjoy my companionship with the good lady and my home; this is all that I need and desire for my happiness and contentment.

No, not my friends, my memories but not my friends.

Perhaps you are growing apart with different priorities, values, and lifestyles?

I have found myself becoming what I would term very unorthodox for me! Reclusive!

I did once. I'm still kind of hoping a true friend will come around someday, but not much luck so far.

The older I get the more I cherish my friends and their laughter, companionship, wisdom and caring.

BTW - It did take a few years to be able to pick them right.

the older you get, the harder it is to make friends. if you're feeling fed up with them, chances are you have different priorities.

I don't know that you "get rid" of your friends if they truly are friends. I think that people change, as do their choices and ideas. If you're not happy with what is happening with the "friends" you have, perhaps going place and doing things you really enjoy will open you up to meeting new people; perhaps some that are more mature than the ones are currently with.

I am in my mid-30s and have only had maybe 3 really true friends in life... besides family members, that is! I have hasd more that I THOUGHT were REALLY GOOD friends --- even BEST FRIENDS--- than you cvopuld EVER even begin to imagine, though! I even had one "best friend" recently "steal" 150-dollars-worth of stuff off of me and claim I gave it to hert as a gift! She then proceeded to tell anyone who would listen that my huband and I had become computer hackers, which is rIDICULOUS, because NEITHER of us would even have a clue as to even where to beghin with that! It takes all kinds, UNFOURTUNATELY! Guess I just trusrt too easily, since I am open & honest!

I've already done it. Even 2 "friends" I had for 20+ years! Problem was, they were never really friends to begin with. It just took dopey lil' ol' me that long to figure it out!

I already did and did'nt mean to. I used to think that friends were people who would call you on your mistakes and try to straighten you out in a playful way but that does'nt seem to be the case any more. As for starting fresh it seems more difficult as you get older I think because people have closed there minds on many different issues and finding someone with many things in common is hard
