That is true no matter how much the liberals wish it wasn't,
Id like to add that another purpose of the constitution is to protect the minority from the whims of the majority.

Disagree, it's purpose is to establish laws and rules invented by reason to govern the republic and society, endowed with liberty and justice for all times.

Right. If the government (and I lump both major parties together on this one) actually adhered to the Constitution, it would be a vastly different country.

Did the United States Constitution make provisions for the creation of a "Federal Government"? I say it did not. We are still a Republic. Therein lys the problem, to many bureaucrats believe in the formation of a "Federal Government", which would be in direct conflict of a government "Of the people, for the people and ruled by the people". A "Federal Government" would have to much control over the citizens lives, freedoms and liberties. The Bill of Rights and Articles of the Constitution would be useless (and helpless) to protect the citizens from a corrupt government. No where in the Constitution does the wording, "formation of a Federal Government" appear.

That is, unless the majority of the population have weapons and seizes the gov. by force. There is power in numbers. It's just that we are all cowards, that's all. I say Syria style.
