Why don't you just tell him it's distracting when he talks so loud. He might not even know he's being that loud.

That's a shame. It's hard enough to work in the best of situations, you shouldn't have to have to deal with that too. How about talking to your supervisor in private and ask what he or she would suggest is done about it. If this is a problem for you, it might be to someone else too.

Some people grew up in big families, and loud is just another word for being involved in the conversation! Let him know that it annoys you... Say it in a nice way though!!
