In 1996 I had three vivid dreams over three consecutive nights that all seemed to be telling me to leave Arkansas and move to California. Over the next week I sold every thing I couldn't pack into a few duffle bags and hopped a Grayhound bus to San Jose with no clue as to where I was even going to sleep when I got off the bus. By the time I got there I had made a friend that let me crash on her couch for a couple weeks until I found a job and a room for rent. 15 years later now, living near the beach in Santa Cruz CA and loving life. Definitely worth it :-)
I was working with someone who systematically destroyed those under them, also known as a psychopath.
I was forced to chose my mental health over putting up with it any longer just to finish my PhD.
Yes, it was worth it.
Conversely, I risked my mental health trying to put up with this person. That was not worth it.
A leap of faith will always be a leap of faith you can if you look find something that was good maybe it is just a bit of knowledge but all life is a leap with faith.
