    "Is everybody politically-correct insane?!"
If a dog killed my baby I'd kill that mut and cry about my baby...

That is exactly what happens in every case I have read about.

It's the unpopular answer, but the dog gets put down. It's an animal and at the end of the day, lower on the food chain. Maybe the person was at fault. Maybe the person wasn't. But the person didn't do the killing.

And yes, some animals give warning signs. Some don't. Some simply snap or see something a baby does as threatening. Animals respond like animals. Seeing them as people puts you at a disadvantage because you then start expecting them to reason like people. I wouldn't see a newborn as a threat, or as encroaching on my space. Nor would I see it as a toy or food. I am a human. Dogs don't think that way. Most are safe. Some are not. I like to play it safe and treat them all like animals. Fewer surprises that way.

I would cope by knowing that this tragedy wouldn't happen again with this animal on my watch. It's how I would cope with my deceased baby that I can't answer.

the guy was a dog trainer. He trained his Huskeys to pull dog sleds. The dog is in quarantine, what ever that means. I would never set eyes on the dog again.

Huskies genetic code is closer to the wolf than any other dog. And he probably trained it only to pull sleds, and not to be a companion. I'm not saying it's not tragic and I feel for the parents. But this clearly wasn't a golden lab that snapped. As a dog trainer, he should have been aware of the possible consequences.

Does this question pop up on a schedule? It seems this same thing is asked ever six months.

Just heard about it on the way home and it was the first thing my wife asked me about. Both of us felt bad. I know my wife would be screaming and crying if it was our child. Me? I would be doing the wrong thing and taking the dog out to the backyard with my gun in all my anger. I have no love for dogs. It also ticks me off when kittens keep walking over my keyboard, but kittens are easy to deal with.

It wouldn't be easy and you would have to hate yourself for the rest of your life for having that happen.

I would not have both a dog and a baby... and if someone else's animal was allowed to mix with my child without me knowing (somehow) I would not be impressed.
