You don't know that the stars are there, even when you are seeing them.

If they're there when you need them, then yes.

Sort of. Some people will be reliable and there for you in certain ways, even if you are out of touch or your lives go in separate directions. Those are "good friends" of course.
But it's true too that you can be mistaken about people from your past. You may think that a friend is a friend forever, but when you get back in touch after a while, you find out otherwise. You might find that that person hasn't thought about you at all and that you were just another person passing through their lives, even if they said or did things that might have led you to believe otherwise. I have had that happen with at least two friends that I thought were solid.
I guess that suits the star metaphor too. When you are looking at the stars, you might actually be looking at an image from the past. Many of the stars we think we see are actually gone....it is only that their lighted images still remain for us to see due to the time it takes for the light to get here.

Yes I agree. There are a select few that I would give my life for. Those same friends would do the same for me. There are no
doubts of loyalty. I hold my good friends so highly they become true family despite their last name or ethnicity. I would do anything for them as they would for me. It's a feeling that is always there for each of us. Just call me and I will be there.
