This country has an African American President and yet?

Innocent children can't go to swim at a pool with white kids. I'm sure the incident that happened has reached major news. White parents asked pool management why were there black kids there and actually took their kids out of the pool when the African American kids got in. The African Americans kids were crying and didn't understand why they were told to leave. Their parents hadn't taught them hatred and intolerance like the whites were exibiting towards them. The manager of that pool demonstrated the same mentality as the all white jury used to when white men were on trial for murdering African Americans and ordered the African Americans children to leave when the whites complained about them being there. It is a shame and a disgrace that this happened in this day and age but it brings to light the fact that there are still segregated places in this country where white "rule" is as enforced now as it was then. They don't like this countries citizen make up then leave!!!

Just because we have an African American President doesn't mean people are any less hateful. It'll take a long time for it to fully go away (if ever) sadly :/

That's why some governments have dicrimination hotlines.

I suggest not waiting for Obama's change, take action yourself. Get together with other parents of black children and sympathizing parents with kids with other colours and take action. Start a boycott, put anti-fascism posters up, ask a church and political leaders for help etc.
Or don't take action and accept the discrimination.

Hatred is a hard thing to eradicate. We try,but there is always someplace where it will thrive. We don't like it, but it is a reminder, when it's found, that we have still a long way to go.

I heard that story on the news. What a shame. I know I'm going to step on some toes here, but I think alot of minorities felt Obama was going to do alot more for them than he has. It was my experience during the election that alot of black people around me voted for him based on his skin color and knew nothing of his policies. *sigh* I just wish we lived in a world where race, religion, etc were not important, but how the person is on the inside. I hate this rotten world sometimes! And those kids will carry that experience with them for the rest of their lives.

This has been handled disgracefully. Poor choice of words, poor decisions were made. It is a private club, it'll be interesting to see how things turn out. I will take things with a grain of salt before making judgments. There's always a victim somewhere when the media is involved.

I was amazed that the presidents quote to the news was that they asked the children from that day-care (all the black children) to leave because they, "Change the complexion" of the pool environemnt. How completely stupid is that!?!?!

It alwasy breaks my heart when kids have to face overt racism like this. We as parents want to protect them so much but, as parents of minority children, we have to teach them how to live with and deal with racism as much as it hurts us to do so.
