Transvestite isn't gender specific, but is there an opposite name to 'drag' for women who wear men's clothes?

That's a million dollar question that cannot be answered. My same thinking: if women can dress up like men in this so-called normal society (jeans, t-shirts, tennis shoes, coat/tie, etc) in public & not be an issue, why can't men dress up in women's clothes & be comfortable in public? Just totally unfair. Socirty's norms are all twisted up.

They are NOT referred to as drag, just as transgenders and cross-dressers are not drag queens. Drag is done for the art and usually in an entertainment setting for a specific occasion and employing hair and makeup but live their life as their actual gender. They are performance artists and live a gay lifestyle, however they don't just throw on a dress and nylons and keep it secret within the confines of their home. They are out and proud.
Transgenders feel they are born in the wrong body and relates to a medical definition. Usually transvestites live for the sexual implications of wearing the opposite sex's clothing and the term coincides with cross-dressing.
Women that wear men's clothing...it depends on the reason. Do they feel they were born in the wrong body? Do they want to preform and show off their male dress attire? Are they in men's clothing as androgynous? Or do they just like to cross dress or role play?Like (1)

There seems to be a fashion at the moment to call them shemales.

Yes, Drag King (female) or Queen (male). Hence - "queen", dismissive slang for gay man..

Drag King if it's for show or "art".
Transman if they're trying to be seen as male.
Otherwise it's just fashion. Which makes me laugh because women can wear pants but guys can't wear dresses or people think they're gay for some reason...
