Almost everyone has a friend or relative with a relatively recent phone just sitting in a drawer. Ask around. If the carrier is the same as yours, you probably don't even need a new sim card, just a simple call to reprogram the one already in the phone. I just did this for one of my kids.

Looks like you're using an old cell phone until you can afford a new one.
Either that or check eBay.
