Urgent: How important is a jacket if you are interviewing for a job and you are female?

I'm not trying to be sexist, gender shouldn't matter but...
According to business etiquette what does anyone know? All my jackets are kind of small and I am wondering what to do for a job fair tomorrow, ahhhhh! I know I was stupid to wait until the last minute, but it did fit fairly recently:(

Speaking as a former career counselor, it really depends on the position and the culture of the workplace. If you're applying for a position in a corporate setting, you should definitely wear a business suit with a jacket. For some reason, employers (male and female) prefer that female candidates wear skirts instead of pants, so choose a skirt suit to be safe.

If the position is in a more relaxed business environment, then AshMeadow is absolutely right.

redflame	Posted Sep 25th, 2009 at 5:26AM wearing a jacket just makes you appear more professional and well dressed. It does depend on the type of job you are being interviewed for. If it is a relaxed environment, then wear a skirt & blouse as mentioned, just make sure the skirt isnt too short. & the shirt is well fitted & tailored. As long as you are well presented.
