Not really. Valentines Day is a special observants that favors couples in love. The basics have their purpose.
Being single for such a holiday should not make anyone sad or desperate. If your not worried about buying a gift or a dinner then your saving money. If you plan to see other single friends you can still have fun. If you have your life together think about trying speed dating or hiring a matchmaker.
Find your own happiness and if its hard to find make up your mind to be happy and create it.

If your going to protest any good to be found then thats how you will feel. When I was a High School student there was a Valentine's Mixxer Dance. No one could show up with a date it made everybody feel included. Find an event of that kind or host one!

lol I do but in some retrospect I can relate to your question. I am born on Valentines day, and have had many Valentines in the past. However due to the fact that I am not the romantic type I tend to spend them alone, or with friends willing to celebrate with me.

I hated it when I was single, and I hate it now that I'm married. To be expected to perform some act of love on a particular day demeans the acts of love that I show every day with devotion and dedication.

Yes, but you can make it easier when you realize that all those hearts floating around are just broken any way!

Don't worry about it, let the couples stress over it.
