Corporate BS, that makes single peoepl feel like crap for the whole day,.. HOORAY!
Am conflicted: on the one hand, I think it's great to have a day dedicated to showing your love to those most meaningful in your life. On the other hand, I do not appreciate 'supply-side' economics: i.e. corporations telling the public what to celebrate when. I feel the same way about Christmas. Bummer.
For me, Valentines is a day where you express your love for the people you love, not just in a romantic sense but also a familial sense.
I am single and have never dated but i have always enjoyed and looked forward to valentines.
Yes it is a commercial holiday but being miserable and moody about it isn't going to stop it from reoccuring ! You will just be making yourself into a sad pile of hate !
You don't have to spend money to celebrate, it just takes a few words, maybe a hug.
You are the cause of what you create, if you look at it as commercial you will be miserable, if you look at it as yet another reason to show the people you already love everyday, why they are dear to you, then you will be happy.
Neither its a Christian holiday celebrating Saint Valentine and early Christian maurders but somehow it got twisted into a corporate gimmick much like Christmas Easter and haloween
Made up by the folks at Hallmark to sell card; that's all.
OK, I'm Androgyne and Asexual, guess that whole Valentines deal is meaningless for me, still in all someone is making money off the whole thing and that seems to be what counts now-a-days.
Holiday for Romantics that Corporate sells meaningful days celebrating Valentine,... * kites a million notes stating "Don't forget YOUR Valentine"!*
It's as romantic or as corporate as you and your partner make it.
Your not likely to celebrate valentines tho are u?
