This isn't just a marijuana issue. You can sub any word for marijuana - such as "abortion", "religion", "alchohol" - and you will incite the same futile debates. People that get high all the time will be convinced that it's "better than alcohol", "relaxes you", "makes sex and food better", and every other apology - instead of just saying, "Hey - I like the sh1t. So what if you don't?" And people that don't like marijuana will be convinced that it "damages brain cells", "kills ambition" - hell they'll even say things like, "'ve never met a truly successful person who smoke marijuana", ignorantly assuming that their vision of "success" applies to other people as well.

People that don't like "X" will find any way to justify "X=Wrong", and vice versa. The important thing to consider is that people who have tried marijuana have also "not tried" it, and thus may be in a better position to speak on the topic than someone who has only smoked what the mass media has fed them.

If the government just allowed it, sold it, taxed it- more government profit- less people in jail (overcrowding) Less people to FEED/CLOTHE/ENTERTAIN in jail (tax payer money!) Not to mention, people will buy/sell this stuff anyway! Might as well (much like my belief on prostitution) bring it to light, make it legal, and clean it up to make it safe. Who knows, maybe nation-wide legalization will create extra jobs and the money made on the sales could help stimulate our economy and get us out of our economic funk. Rated: +3Vote for this!

Pluses: it makes you happy, relieves pain, makes food taste better, relaxes you, and makes you laugh. It relieves anxiety by making you forget about time. Minuses: it makes you lazy and unmotivated, makes you late for things, and makes it hard to pay attention to things. Sometimes it makes you look dumb and you can be absentminded like lose things. Also I heard it damages your lungs like cigarettes. It also causes dry mouth...and could potentially get you arrested. Rated: +1Vote for this!
Yacht	Posted Jul 23rd, 2009 at 5:32PM I have studied MJ and learned that new discoveries show that it is worse than people think. I am not a smoker. But I do look down on people who smoke. I don't mean to (and I have friends who do or have so it doesn't mean I don't like them) but it's because of this... It's a miracle when someone is born with a healthy and working body. I want to be a doctor someday and I think that it's terrible that people will do things to their body to hurt it. Even if it's not so much. There are so many people who are born without and it's not fair to do drugs and such. But that's just me. Also smoking doesn't affect just one person. There are others around you who breath it in second hand. If drugs only hurt the person choosing to do them that would be one thing. But that's not the case. Rated: +1Vote for this!

bubbles17	Posted Jul 24th, 2009 at 12:09PM im small quantities i think is a good thang, it relaxes you and can really help with pain and things like that, but if you become hooked then its a bad thing, but i have seen people commit crimes to get booze money and money for cigaretts. so how is marijuanna any worse? the effects are that of drinking too. and have there been any links between lung cancer and smoking a joint? nyc09	Posted Jul 24th, 2009 at 4:44PM I don't (have never) smoked marijuana, but know friends that do. i do not like that, but it doesn't really bother me either. I was in a car once where everyone was smoking pot and being the only sober guy remember thinking how these people don't realize how dumb they are acting. I also don't like that buying it supports drug dealing that is destroying Mexico. But that being said, I'm not saying its awful, just not for me.
