An ancient papyrus was found of a conversation between Jesus and his disciples, and he mentions his wife. I just found it interesting and wondered what people thought. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2012/09/was-jesus-married-ancient-papyrus-mentions-his-wife/

If he was do you think hed have been allowed to 'hang out' with the guys all the time?

Best Answer

If you're asking this you clearly don't understand what a marriage meant back then. He wouldn't have given a damn what his wife wanted.

*sigh* Sarcasm..........

Best Answer

no no no...You're supposed to come back with a snarky comment that says I'm dumb, then I hit you back with one that says you're a dork. Don't you know how these fake flame wars work?

Lol. I like you. Youre funny.

Being far wiser than his fellow men Jesus managed to dodge that particular bullet. Sure he got crusified, but for most married men that would be preferable.

Best Answer

There has been speculation that he was but no proof.

I find it very unlikely a self described "rabbi" would not have taken a wife. In most religions if you're not married you're not a complete person in the eyes of god. If he wasn't married they probably thought he was gay.

Nice angle.

I agree with you.

He had a prostitute that he really cared for... marywhatshername.... supposedly

Best Answer

mary magdelane ...i doubt if i spelled that right.

Best Answer

I doubt it too... Especially since it was translated into english lol

Best Answer

No wonder he never got married. If I had my own prostitute I wouldn't have either.

Best Answer

she was not a prostitute......she was unpopular and she may not have been a virgin. But not a prostitute. They gave that label to everyone, just like they do to unpopular women in the middle east today. That is what I believe anyhow.

First Rabbis are married.
Second when Mommy Mary approaches Jesus at the Wedding in Cana and say they are running out of wine, she can only know this because SHE is the Hostess. and it is his wedding.
Three he often kisses Mary Mag
He loved her more than us (Paul)

More likely yes than no.

Now church is selling sexless woman hating religion
Spiritual is not physical
so their guy has to be a non-physical guy
There are two other messiahs before Jesus in the area Joesph Campbell mentions them and they preform the exact same miracles.

The church spent enormous effort to hide and expunge any traces that Jesus was a normal man with a wife. These edicts were issued by the council in Nicea
They are selling a product
don't you notice all the love and compassion in the world.
That is because the christian are loving and compassionate
and so is Allah and the muslims
It is why you never hear anything bad happening in the middle east. Just peace harmony and spiritual communion
working like a charm

It is possible. Several accounts say that the disciples were jealous of the time he spent with MM. Numerous accounts were recorded but around 325 AD at the First Council of Nicea, the church ( and Constantine) elders went through and discarded the books that they did not think were significant and got rid of the rest. It is not impossible to believe that they cultivated an image that they wanted to sell the people. Not that it was such a bad image but I think it was done in the same way that George Washington was told that he chopped down a cherry tree and told his father he did it because he could never tell a lie. And Abe Lincoln split 500 trees in one day etc.....

Whether he was married is not as important to me as his lessons and values.

It is quite possible for me to believe that he and MM were married. Now...the next question........kids ?
