I'm guessing you're looking for some level of detail here. This is guesswork (but educated guesses).
I'll assume she is in hospital or some paliative care situation. She will have pain and as it gets worse she will go onto a morphine drip for it (in all probability) Assuming that happens, then her dose will keep being lifted to keep the pain down. After a while the level of morphine depresses breathing. So its a trade off as to whether she can take the pain or needs to breathe. But often at that stage they are barely conscious. The worst case is if she develops fluid on the lungs at that point. But from there on it won't take more than a day or two.
I'm sorry if this isn't what you were looking to hear, but it sounded as if you were after the facts. If they don't give her proper pain relief it won't be nice to watch. I'd hope for the morphine if it was me. And my thoughts go out to you.

Perhaps from CANCER? Or if she's out and about anything can happen.

It's gonna be very painful. She's gonna be aware of the process. Not nice. Really really sorry.

Depending on where in the brain it is, that will probably be the decisive blow. My grandmother died of brain cancer, so I can say any pain WON"T come from there as the brain has no pain nerves. She was a mess, paralysed, couldn't talk or feed herself, but at least was in minimal pain BUT it was only the one kind.
I'm trying to distract you from the awful truth that death, as all above acknowledge, will be cruel and painful. Where's God when you need Him?
My grandfather died of complications after having his gangrenous leg amputated. They couldn't give him enough morphine; the MD chickened out when Pop started hallucinating because of the "scene" it was causing for the family. Don't be selfish....bombs away with the opiates, respiration failure will only be a discomfort compared to the torture of lung cancer.
Anyone want a cigar? [Cough...cough].
