What age? The age you realize they're not living barbie dolls are a cute accessory, they're a real responsibility. That's the age you should have kids.

When you can handle the responsibility both financially and emotionally, and you realize that it's not all about you anymore.

I don;t know.... I've seen some phenomenal 20 year old parents, and I've seen a lot of really crappy 35 year old parents that should have been forcibly sterilzed at an early age because now their kids are suffering. That's a hard question, but I think it all just boils down to the person.

If everyone waited until they could afford a child then the nation would be devoid of all population except around the Kennedy Compound, Newport and the Hamptons.

when you have a stable home and a steady career and a partner, for starters. and i don't mean living at your parents abode while you work at mcdonald's. for me, personally any age prior to whenever i hit menopause will be too young so no baybeez for me!!! :)

I don't want to have children until I am a couple years out of college, 23-24, but I want to have a child by the time my youngest sibling graduates high school (I'll be 31). So that is basically my age range.

In regards to age,as long as you are not still a teenager it doesn't matter. The essential thing is to be mature and responsible. A good parent is one that regards their child's basic needs before their own.

I'm with Konrad. Also, it's better to want kids because you want them and not because your husband/boyfriend wants them because alot of times the guys leave. lol! And then you're left trying to figure out how to be a momma (in my case I had NO maternal instinct whatsoever and had to rely on everyone else for advice). I was 26 when I had my child.

25 and over.

I know some of my friends already have kids and I'm 23. It's difficult to believe you're not a kid anymore when you see your friends with baby strollers. The rule of thumb is 25 because it's when you officially morph into an adult. But, I know plenty of women who had kids as young as 18, and others who had them when they were 39/40.

When you are old enough to manage your life, be responsible enough to manage your life and theirs and are financially responsible enough. Emotional maturity. God there is alot of stuff that you need to be. Eighteen is just too damn young. Age isnt really a factor if you think about the real deal. But it is to a point. I would have to say 25 but even then you may not need to have them. You really have to sit down and think about that. When youre 18 you want the whole world but are you really ready for all that? No way I'd say. Not when I was 18. Im still not ready and am 29 almost. Think about it. I say dont do it. Not at 18 for sure. Have fun and enjoy life responsibly and wait for some time. When you have a kid at that age you will regret it when you want to go hang out with friends and you cant find, let alone afford a babysitter and you gotta pay for the night out too, you will think to yourself,"why did i do that?" So get the young years out of your system and have a good time. Youll never, ever be 18 again.
