What age would you call Middle Age and at what Age does Old Age begin?

I'm 50 and consider myself middle aged. I call 75 and older, old.

Old age begins on the 1st day of birth & the last day ends when you are "reborn"... (middle age) is in the eye of the beholders...

I'm young. 17 is still considered young, right?
They say 40 starts middle age, but most people don't live to be 80, so these classifications don't make much sense.

I think it depends on the person. My mum is 55 and she is definitely middle aged. But my uncle who is 57 is most definitely old.

As a 56 y/o, I'd say middle age starts at 50. Old age starts when you allow it. I know several people 20 years younger than me that act older than me.

Thats a good question and you are funny! It is hard to determine that since not everyone acts their age or looks their age. But some people are just miserable and it makes others think they are older then they really are!

One tends to think that Old Age begins when you get your 'old-age pension' and become an 'OAP'; here in the UK the govt. are moving the goalposts all the time so eventually you won't be an OAP until you are 68. When I get there I'll tell you how old I feel, lol

They're all just numbers...I'm 50....age is as much psychological....as it is physical.....I won't limit myself to any number.....you're as young as you feel....

am not that relegious but the bible says 3 score yrs and 10,so if thats true then middleaged would be 35,and old age would be 60??the reason ive put question marks is because im 43,and am in no way middle aged!!x

There is a great book called "the third age" that everyone should consider reading, at least thats my view. The idea is simple, we are given roadmaps from our parents or primary infulencers when we are very young, the problem is these roadmaps ahve been passed down over generations and they have not been adjusted as we started living longer. In the end because of longevity we have been gifted a third phase of our life. Don't conform to conventional teachings about whats age appropriate, keep a young mind and body and live like you want and should. My first mentor is 86 with homes in three countires and three in the US. He still has 10 major global clients and jsut built a new home with his wife thats 25 years younger and struggles to keep up with him. Remember that the age you think your old you will be old!
