When you go eat out, order water instead of soft drink. Not only it's healthier, but it saves you few bucks each time. Instead of dining in, order for to go, it saves you tips, especially if your food costs a lot. When eat out with a partner, order 1, instead of 2 of the same drinks, and share, you can get refill. When buying refillable drink, get the smallest size, refill as many times you want. I don't know if it's considerred clever, but it did save me a lot. Just some tips from a used-to-be-poor student. :D

Very smart, particularly on the last two tips. I had not thought about those.

That's a very interesting idea. Watering it down to save money probably does work, maybe just a few dollars per month in savings, but every dollar counts.

Here is cleaver one: Go get 4-6 bank accounts from different banks. Then have them order you cases of half dollars. It is free from most banks. Make sure that one of the banks has a change counter. Order case after case. Go though them all for the 90 silver coins and 40 %er's. Scrap the silver and redeposit the change to the one bank and keep doing this. If you do this just as I have made then you will find a few extra grand ever other month depending on how many boxes you order. I do this and it works great.

Read it again. The idea is to get the benjamin franklin half dollar's and they are 90% silver as are some of the Kennedy"s but the latter 60's are just 40% silver. Each 90% as of today is worth 10.16 and rising. You could also do this with dimes but the the half dollars weigh more.

round up your money whenever you spend it. For example: If you buy something for $10.80 round it up to an even $11 dollars then take that extra 20 cents and put it aside. eventually that rounded up money will add up.

Not bad. My bank does this already for me automatically on debit card purchases. I find it a little annoying, but it does help because it usually builds up to at least a few dollars before I end up transferring it over to checking.

Yes, but this is not necessarily something that most people don't think of. Just something that most people don't do very well.
