Believe it or not...I truly believe that putting your spouse (not your children) should come first. Do things (like comment #1 said) without expecting anything in return. If you truly love someone you will want to give them everything you canwithout expecting some sort of gratification. The gratification is you feel good about what you did. If youhave two people who love each other, respect each other and can be honest with one another you have a perfect marriage. Now, you're still going to fight, argue, give each other the silent treatment and possible throw irons or shoes at each otheron occassion but if the good times out weigh the bad then you've got a successful marriage =)

Having been married now for 21 years, I can tell you it's: respecting each other for who you are.

don;t really know i'm not married, but if i do say so myself you must meet somewhere in the middle. not everyone is alike. and find time away from each other, trust when they're not around you. love to be loved by them and love to love them.

FORGIVENESS. COMPASSION. ACCEPTANCE. LOVE MAKING. TAKING TIME FOR EACH OTHER. COMMITTMENT. LOYALTY. MEALS TOGETHER. COMFORT EACH OTHER. BE GENUINE, NO GAMES. EXPRESS GRATITUDE FOR EACH OTHER. KEEP BUSY TOGETHER AND SEPARATELY.

P.S. my husband said "thin, rich, and naked." ...hmmmm...!
