What are the main reason for forgetfulness other than Alzheimer's disease?

I am a 28 year old woman who frequently suffers from forgetfulness. I will be talking to someone and suddenly forget what I was talking about or I will put something somewhere and forget that I even had it. You get the picture, what is the most logical explanation for this?

I do'nt know if you are a very busy person with a lot going on but that could also contribute to memory loss. There is an actual psychological term for it "information overload" your brain may have reached its capacity for storing short-term memory information and you lost what you were trying to remember.

ADD or ADHD can be linked with forgetfulness.

Dissociation as well. Possibly due to trauma, or you were a very hypersensitive kid, but I don't know you, and I'm not a doctor.

It may be caused by lack of focus or concentration or there are just too many things on your mind that you want to say all at once but you end up not saying anything at all. Stress may also cause forgetfulness or else there is also such a thing as selective forgetting.

Besides the ones listed....certain medications can affect your memory...i.e. blood pressure medications, medications used to treat mental illness (bipolar, schizophrenia, etc).

It's not at all uncommon...I think everyone I know nowadays has that problem because we are forced to do so much multi-tasking. We have 10 things going on in our heads and our poor brains have to just force certain things to the background.
However, as unicorn pointed out, meds are a big contributing factor in many cases...Check the side affects on any meds you are taking to be sure it's not being caused by them. If not, it's probably your poor brain just being overworked!
