I'd say it was far preferable to stabbings or shooting or machete attacks in schools.

Are you serious they arn't trying to ban that are they??? I don't mean to preach to you but the bible says that in the end times one of the signs will be that there will be no more show of natural human affection! My ten year old twins go to a Catholic school and they got in trouble for putting their arms around a friend that they are good buddies with! I didn't see any harm in it, I've actually encourage natural human affection! But it's no wonder with so many teacher getting charged with sexual assult that they've become defensive over the natural as well as the those who cross the line! It sucks!

yes.. and not only in school.
standards in morality are way offshore as of late.
and the youth now are all busy about finding loopholes and ways against them.

I don´t see anything wrong with that.

Political Correctness can be taken to ridiculous extremes.

Like everything else in human relations, expressing one's affection or sympathy with someone is a natural thing to do, and there would be no problem with it if people were "self-regulating" and aware of their responsibilities towards one another as fellow human beings.

But more and more, some people are showing themselves to be not aware / not responsible; then everything has to be regulated by authority, and it kills the human genuineness and spontaneity.

Its a sad day; I'm sure, as someone has said, there are so many adult examples of inappropriate behaviour that our children see, its natural that they will become corrupted by it. And then it all goes slowly but inexorably downhill from there...

I don't remember having any problems with "hugging" when I was at school in the '30s and '40s...

Kids are doing drugs and having s3x in schools these days so I'd say hugging is the least of our problems. Anyway a hug is a very good and natural way to express oneself.

Hugging in today's society is labled as perverted, especially in schools. It's sad but a fact!

I think it is absolutely sad and ridiculous that we have to ask this. Administrators ought to be capable of hiring teachers who are safe well adjusted individuals who can appropriately convey care to their students as well as regulate the conduct between students. I think many students benefit from a hug from a teacher when they are dealing with something as well as being able to express their affection with their friends. It is important to have solid boundaries between adults and children, but I think it is important to be reasonable. There needs to be trust between parents and administrators. They should be working hand in hand for the interest of each child and every child. Parents should be able to expect that there children are being taught by well-trained background checked professionals who will be fired immediately for anything inappropriate. AND Administrators and teachers should be able to expect that parents will not sue them without warrant.

hugging should not be banned in schools, neither should kissing in my opinion. how can the schoolboards or the government justify stopping such actions when the world around these "children" is littered with sex? the internet, television and advertising all feed our "children" these ideas of intimacy then we turn around and say they cant do it!? ridiculous.

i have head teachers can't have any sort of physical contact with students, but students against students. Where will people get their comfort hugs after a very stressful day. This is an outrage (well not really). I do agree on the PDA though, yes I know you love each other but I do not need to see so much mouth contact involving tongues.

Our schools (Louisiana) don't allow hugging.
It's dumb but at the same time I don't like seeing PDA

Unfortunately it's this ugly society we live in that has brought this about...
teachers cannot hug a child for fear of parents getting outraged and accusing them of molestation. Crazy crazy world!! It's sad that we can't hug a kid and show some kindness and love... but we have to just smile and keep them at arms length.

my son is grown up now but when he was really little he used to hug his teachers. i think it would have really hurt his feelings if he was turned down.

some of the kids use hugging as a time waster at schools from observation. Hugging isn't allowed in the work place and why should school be different.

time and a place for everything
