What are your thoughts on modern slavery? Do you know much about it?

There is no relief in sight, there isn't even a telethon

There are more than 27 million slaves in the world today. Most are women, girls and boys.

In my opinion, this abominable violation of human rights deserves far more attention and concerted international efforts on behalf of world leaders to end it immediately.

I'm sure you're correct but I'm incllined as a Westerner to believe that debt is the biggest slavemaster to most of us. That makes the practice very widespread, just polished up a bit.

Well, to me, slavery of any kind is an abomination, and is to be avoided if at all possible.

But there are many forms of slavery to think about...
There's child slavery, where children are (in poorer countries) sold by their parents for some money to exist on, and are then offered to brothels or factory owners who only provide the barest essentials to keep them alive and working hard. Some children are just kidnapped and sold into slavery, and their parents never know what happened to them.

Then, in more affluent society perhaps, there is slavery to the clock, slavery to greed, slavery to alcoholic drink, slavery to drug habits, slavery to tradition - "It has always been done this way"...

All of these slaveries prevent humans from fulfilling their potentials as Universe Beings.

I know very little about it but I do believe that it's still going on in the world. Actually, I think that there will always be abuse and slavery as long as people are alive. Sad, but true,

he!! yes...i have paid taxes since i was 13 now i am living in poverty...some would say it is not true slavery but do i have a choice?

For me, 'modern slavery' is kind of child & uneducated labour in many countries, e.g. a famous brand name that sell very expensive products but behind the scene was slavery... especially, child labour T_T .. how pitiful they are

Recently I've heard cases involving children .Their parents gave them away to settle debts .

Modernity is slavery.
