Yep pretty much the one thing that can totally end an obsession(at least quickly) is another obsession. LOL

i am a recovering anorexic and totally obsessed with body image and exercise. i have to be on medicines and it does help to keep occupied w/other activities. i make a list of other activities or chores or goals to accomplish and that helps also. Getting dressed and getting out of the house, even when i don't feel like it helps. i think the best cure is to have family and friends who truley care about and understand you around as much as possible. watching or reading something funny is also a good idea. i think the old saying "laughter is the best medicine" definitely holds true.

i jog for this very reason... or i find distractions like books, friends, family... the key is that the distraction you choose makes you feel better or comforts you in some way. i just try to keep my mind busy with other things. i know what it is like to be really stuck on something and being frustrated that i don't want to think about it any more... sometimes it just helps to get it off your chest with someone you can trust

Stay mentally busy. Do tasks that require you to think about what you're doing. Clean/organize a room. Read books. Avoid things that keep your hands busy but your mind free to wander.

I usually read, watch tv or play online games. Something that is a distraction. Oh and drink wine :-)

Maybe the obsession is not always necessarily a bad thing? The longer you focus on something and think about it the better you get at it.

Since you posted it under relationships and romance I’m assuming this is a romantic obsession. You just have to out live it. For me it fades in a couple of years. Even at the half way point it is reduced a lot so it's not unbairable.
