What comes to your mind when someone says that they are "emo"?

Teenagers, desperate for attention, who wear their hair straight and bangs over their eyes like its cute. They think they have life so bad because mom makes them do chores after school and wear a brightly colored shirt to the family photo.

Meanwhile I was living in a motel room with my family of four at one point in high school, but I went to school with a smile on and my hair out of my face. I didn't cut or talk about cutting. I didn't "hate the world". UGH!

Horrible clothing looking like stuff found in a rummage sale at Salvation Army. Frankenstein's monster's shoes. And a very poor selection of music. Rated: +3Vote for this!
jinda	Posted Mar 14th, 2009 at 4:51PM sadness comes to my mind as emo means emotional... sure there are emo trends and phases ...but they are just mimicking the true emos ...the kids who are forsaken, who know only hatred, pain, dispair and neglect... they are only reacting to the violent, chaotic, toxic and loveless world they were born into to they are a sign of our times ...and they should not be condemned or scoffed at Rated: +2Vote for this!

TheWatchers	Posted Mar 14th, 2009 at 9:31AM Every young generation makes an attempt to define themselves. This is just this generation's way of standing out. I was considered "Generation X". The trend then was grunge music, flannel shirts, and skateboards. The whole "Emo" thing is just a phase that will pass. Hopefully, it will be over soon because I think it's stupid. There is nothing cool about being an emotional train wreck and the practice of self mutilation, that a few of the hardcore Emos are into. Rated: +1Vote for this!
