What did you do to overcome family opposition to your sweetheart?

At first, I cried a lot. I am dating someone not of my race and that makes my parents uncomfortable. Some days I thought it would never work. But it did, and still does.

I talked to him about how my parents felt and told him ways that he could get on their good side. I also told him to be patient and say thank you for everything, no matter how small it was. It took almost 3 years, but my family finally accepts him. :)

I lie to my family about how successful of a guy he really isn't.

Lie about the gifts he doesn't buy me. Lie about the education he is not getting. Lie about the great job he doesn't work.

Tell the truth about what a great lover he is.
