Everything. Ultimately your character is all you have.
Ethics is the right and wrong that prescribe what we should do, in terms of rights, obligations, benefits to society, fairness, or specific virtues, virtues of honesty, compassion, and loyalty. Ethical standards include standards relating to rights, such as the right to life, the right to freedom from injury, and the right to privacy. Such standards are adequate standards of ethics because they are supported by consistent and well founded reasons.
Ethics = Placing a bowl of fish in front of a cat.
If someone practices poor ethics, and has a conciense that accepts doing so, they are not worth dealing with
If someone practices poor ethics, and know they should not, they need guidance
If someone practices good ethics, they can stand tall and proud and look you in the eye - even if they have screwed up
ethics are having values that you stick to weather it makes you or someone else around you happy ie would you steal a wallet left on the table if you had no money and nobody was around,? If you had ethics you would take it to the authorities and tell them ,if you had no ethics youd clean it out buy some groceries and pay your rent, A doctor ethics are to practice med safely without intentional harm to anyone without ethics he'd prescribe medication to drug dealers and reap in the profits
To me ethics means doing what is acceptable and considered "good" or "honorable" in a society.
It means doing the right thing even if no one is watching or no one will ever know.
