Don't let it turn into a downward spiral. There is plenty of time for depression after you deal with the problems...

Your friend dying is inevitable. Dealing with the inevitability of death is part of life - I guess this is your first experience like this? Most people never learn to deal with this sort of thing well... you just have to suck it up and carry on. Try to be strong for them... do not burden them with your problems.

If your friends are abandoning you in your hour of need they weren't really friends to begin with.

Work deadlines can be immovable, sometimes we miss them because they are unreasonable - other times because we don't work hard enough etc. I'm sure if you just look at the situation and try to solve it you will be fine.

Most of your forebears have gone through much worse and got themselves through it... so you do have it in you.

Did you check their will? If you're in it, forget about work, if you're not, they're not much of a friend and you'll need your job. Phuck friends, there's plenty of those around.

it's crucial that you be there for your dying friend. Everyone else should understand. If they don't then well that says something about their character, doesn't it?
